What Exactly Arrives in the Destination: Buttons, Pinned Posts, Albums and Copies That Expire
Filters decide which messages travel. These four decide what they look like when they land โ and two of them carry a limit that comes from Telegram itself, which is worth knowing before you go looking for a setting that would fix it.
Copy buttons
Some messages carry buttons underneath: a link, a subscribe action, a vote. The setting is on by default, and it decides whether those buttons come across with the message.
The limit is real and worth stating plainly: buttons survive when the message is relayed as it is. As soon as the rule rewrites the text โ filters that change it, replacements, a header or footer โ the message has to be recreated, and buttons can only be re-attached when Ghost Mode is on. Without it, a rewritten message arrives without its buttons. That comes from what Telegram allows an ordinary account to send, not from a decision on our side.
Forward pinned messages
When someone pins a post in the source, Telegram produces a small service notice. This setting, off by default, decides whether that gets relayed.
Off is right for almost everyone: a pin notice in your destination refers to a pin that did not happen there, which is confusing rather than informative. Turn it on when you are mirroring a channel closely enough that the pins are part of what you are relaying.
Delete the copy after a while
The copy delivered to your destination can remove itself after a set time: one hour, six hours, twenty-four hours, or seven days.
Two things this is not. It never touches the original โ only the copy your rule created, in your own destination. And it is not a retraction: if the source deletes a post you want removed everywhere, that is delete sync, which mirrors the deletion instead of running on a timer.
It suits destinations that are meant to be transient: a live alerts channel where yesterday is noise, a preview channel, a group where you do not want a permanent archive to build up on its own.
Albums
When a source publishes several photos as one album, the copy arrives as one album too. There is no switch: it happens by itself when the content is not being changed.
The limit, again from Telegram: an album stays an album only while the message is relayed untouched. If the rule rewrites the text โ replacements, a header, a translation โ each piece has to be recreated individually, and they arrive in the right order but no longer bound together as one album. This is not a setting we have chosen to withhold; it is what recreating a message allows.
The practical consequence: if albums matter to your destination, keep the transformations off on that rule, or accept the pieces arriving separately.
How they interact
- Relayed untouched: buttons stay, albums stay whole. This is the plainest and most faithful form.
- Text rewritten, Ghost Mode on: buttons can be re-attached, albums come apart.
- Text rewritten, Ghost Mode off: buttons are lost, albums come apart.
- Auto-deletion is independent of all of this: it applies to the copy whatever shape it arrived in.
Which plans include them
These settings are part of the paid plans, from Smart upwards; re-attaching buttons additionally needs Ghost Mode, which starts on Gold. The plan comparison is on the pricing page.
Common questions
Why did the buttons disappear from my forwarded messages?
Because the rule is changing the text. A message relayed untouched keeps its buttons; one that is rewritten has to be recreated, and buttons can be re-attached only with Ghost Mode on. It is a limit of what Telegram allows, not a setting we withhold.
Can the forwarded copy delete itself after a while?
Yes: one hour, six hours, twenty-four hours or seven days. It removes only the copy in your destination and never the original.
Why did my album arrive as separate photos?
Because the rule rewrote the message. An album stays whole only when relayed untouched; once each piece has to be recreated they arrive in order but not bound together. Keep the transformations off on that rule if albums matter.
Are pinned messages relayed?
Only if you switch it on; it is off by default. A pin notice in your destination refers to a pin that did not happen there, so for most rules it is noise.
