How Do You Remove Mentions, Hashtags or Emoji From Forwarded Telegram Messages?

Where the block lives

Open the rule editor, go to the Transform tab and find the block called Text cleanup, titled "Clean the text". It holds three separate switches — Mentions, Hashtags and Emoji — and a Preview that shows the same message before and after, so you can see on a real post what each choice removes.

The helper text in the editor says it plainly: "Removes mentions, hashtags or emoji from the message before it is forwarded." A second line points where not to look: "Links are handled separately, in External links below."

The three switches

• Mentions removes @names of the shape Telegram allows, at least five characters after the @. The typical use is dropping the original channel's @handle that repeats in every post of the source.
• Hashtags removes the # together with the word after it. Accented letters and non-Latin alphabets are handled: a hashtag written in another language comes out whole.
• Emoji removes emoji, pictograms, flags and similar symbols — everything that is a picture rather than a letter.

The text is stitched back together

Removing a word leaves a gap, and a gap left open looks like a mistake. After the removal the text is stitched up: double spaces are closed, a space hanging before punctuation is taken away, and extra blank lines disappear. The message does not arrive with holes where the removed pieces used to be.

Cleanup applies to the text of the message, and to the caption of a photo or video. Nothing else on the message is touched by it.

Filters run before cleanup

The order is fixed and it matters: the filters of the rule look at the original text, before cleanup has changed anything. A keyword filter that matches a hashtag still matches, even with the Hashtags switch on and the hashtag then removed from what arrives.

In other words, cleanup decides what the destination sees, not what the rule matches. If a hashtag should decide whether a message travels at all, keep the filter and let cleanup tidy it away afterwards.

What changes about delivery

Because the text is changed, the message is rebuilt rather than relayed untouched, and the usual consequences of any transformation apply: the buttons under the message are lost unless Ghost Mode is on, and an album arrives as separate pieces.
