How Do You Keep a Telegram Group Organised by Forwarding Into Topics?

The shape of the job

A room inside a forum group can be the destination of a rule: the copy lands inside that room rather than in the group at large. That is how one group holds one room per source instead of a separate channel for every source. The reverse works too: a rule can take a single topic as its source, which matters when only one room of a forum group is worth relaying onward.

One rule per room

A rule delivers to one destination: only on Platinum can a single rule deliver to several rooms at once. The arrangement is one rule per room instead, and the number of rules depends on the plan. Several rules may also point at the same room.

1. Create a rule and pick the source: the channel whose posts belong in Announcements.
2. Pick the destination: choose the Announcements room of your group, listed by name under the group itself.
3. Save. Every post from that source now lands inside the room, not in the group at large.
4. Repeat with a second rule for the next source and the room it belongs in.

When only one room should be relayed

The mirror image of the problem: a forum group where one room out of many is worth passing on. Pick the room as the source and only what is published in that room is delivered; the other rooms are ignored, which is the point.

The General room counts as a topic too: a rule watching a named room does not see what is published in General, and the reverse. Choose the room deliberately, and check that the destination room is open; a closed topic refuses new messages while the group itself stays perfectly healthy.

Routing by subject, not only by room

Rooms separate streams, but sometimes one stream needs sorting on the way in. Keyword filters do that: a whitelist forwards only messages containing the words you name, and a blacklist drops those containing a forbidden one.

The same source can therefore feed two rooms through two rules, each with its own list. Filters drop silently, so post a test message that really would pass before trusting the split.

Showing members where each post came from

In a community room it helps for members to see the origin. The switch is called Show "Forwarded From", and it is off by default. With it on, the copy carries the source name: Telegram's own tag above the message when it is relayed untouched, or a text line above it when the rule rebuilds it. The name links to the original post, which opens only for people who are already members of the source.

Keeping the rooms clean

Delete sync removes the copy when the original is deleted at the source, within seconds. A withdrawn offer or a corrected announcement disappears from your group as well, instead of living on under your name. It is a per-rule switch, part of the paid plans from Smart upwards.
